Surprise Kiss

MK and I went out with two other couples for dinner. It turned out to be a late night by the time we came back home. So when we were in bed I told MK I had a surprise for her but she had to close her eyes. I then began to make noises all around her and after about a minute I gave her the surprise.....a kiss.

Forget you not Card

I was really tired so I actually fell asleep before doing anything for MK. She checked to see if I was asleep and told me that it was ok that I missed a day. I replied that I hadn't and reached over and grabbed a card I had on the bedside table.

Never too late to say sorry

Today I got home late and cause MK to run late for one of her appointments. She was a bit frustrated leaving the house when I came home. So I took a a poster board and wrote on it SORRY, I LOVE YOU. I posted it on the garage door for her when she came home.

The One Thing I Would Change About You

When MK came home today I had a cute little confetti filled box waiting for her. Beside the box was a note (with an arrow pointing to the box) which said: I love you with all of my heart but, there is one thing I would change about you... Inside the box was Nothing

Camsaw Puzzle

I picked up a small puzzle box and emptied the pieces onto the kitchen table for MK. The puzzle had hearts, hugs and kisses, and XO on it. I left it out for MK but when Cameron saw it he wanted to do it. I told him if mommy didn't put it together then he could in the morning. So MK had the pieces but Cameron actually put the puzzle together for her.

Kiss the frog

Tonight when I came home a had a button attached to my jacket. It was a picture of a frog prince and said Kiss Me on it. And guess what, she did.

Stay Sweet

Today MK and Nana took the kids to see a play and when she returned I had a surprise waiting for her. I took a candy dish and filled it up with M&M's (cupid colors). A placed a note beside the dish: Just in case the kiss was not big enough, here are some treats to keep you sweet.

Big Kiss

Tonight when I came home I placed a big Hershey's Kiss on the counter for her. Inside I took out the Hershey tag and replaced it with my own tag which read: After a long day at work, all I want to do is give you a big kiss

The Return of the Flower Lady

The flower lady returned once again and this time I picked up a bunch of roses for MK to go in the tacky vase. Actually, ended up putting them in a nice vase. Not so tacky.

Tacky Vase

Tonight I left a flower vase on the kitchen counter for MK. The vase has hearts and ladybugs with i love you and lovebug written on it. Very tacky but kinda cute.

At Last

Tonight I asked MK to make me some hot cocoa and when she came into the bedroom I pressed play on the remote. Earlier I synced the DVR player to the broadcast of The Neighborhood Ball with President Obama and First Lady Michelle's first dance. As soon as Beyonce' began to sing I grabbed MK's hand and started to dance along with Barack and Michelle. The song "At last" was special to us because it was our first dance choice also.

Hey baby, in the snow

We got snow! I took a water bottle full of red kool-aid and wrote Hey Baby, I Love You in the snow.

Goodnight, Kiss

When she went to put Eliza to bed and turn the lights out she saw a note that I had stuck to the light switch. The note said: Thank you for taking care of her, now come and give me a kiss.

Ice, Ice, Baby

While the kids were playing in the backyard today I asked MK to come to the window and look out. There outside the window was a piece of ice shaped to form a heart. I carved it from a block of ice with my out bare hands with nothing but a rusted nail. Just kidding, actually I used a heart shaped mode, filled it with water, and put it in the freezer overnight. On it I tried to carve CJ and MK forever but ended up using a marker to write it instead.

Piece of Thread, Piece of Me

Tonight MK came home from a night out with the girls after the kids and I were in bed. Earlier, I took a piece of thread and attached a label to the end of it. On it I wrote: Even if you can't see it I know you can feel....my heart. I took the label and placed it behind the headboard of our bed and stretched the thread down and onto MK's side of the bed. The thought we she came to bed she would feel the thread at some point and pull it from behind the headboard. What end up happening was MK got up out of bed to check on Eliza in the middle of the night and had the string attached to her pj's. She pulled the thread and there was the note. Perfect!

I joined Facebook today. Only to send MK a message to let her know that I love her so much. I planned on deleting the account but she thinks I should give it a try. So because I love my wife I will give it a go. What the heck did I do?

Tonight I brought MK home some tulips.

Remove the kidney, keep the heart

Tonight I took a glittered covered heart on a stick and put it in MK's makeup brush jar. No note, no cheesy line just a sparkling foam heart for her.

Crazy thought: The heart is the organ which represents love, right. What if it was a liver instead?Next time I will try to find a kidney on a stick. Wish me luck.

MK is going to make me delete the above lines. I know it.

The Big Picture

Coming home from Cameron's basketball practice I gave MK a slip of paper. On it was the below sentences written in the smallest font I could use (1). She followed me home in her car and said she couldn't read it so I gave her a magnifying glass. Unfortunately, it wasn't good enough so I ended up reading it to her.

I've heard it said that "It's all in the details" and "don't let the small stuff get to you". So which is it? I say both. I say pay attention to the details but don't let them get you down. I think that's why we may bicker, but don't argue. We know that arguing accomplishes nothing except a loss of communication and making the one you love feel less loved. I never want you to feel that way and I know you don't want me to either. So I know you may nag sometimes and you put up with my junk all of the times but we both see the big picture. We both get it. We ultimately want to make sure we are both happy.

Love monkey

MK was giving the kids their bath and I walked in and told her that I know our lives seems like a jungle at times. I tossed a magic towel (compressed cloth to about the side of a post it) in the bath and told her to remember I am what the towel says. A couple of minutes late the cloth opened up to show a mokey holding a heart and love monkey written on it. A couple of seconds later I had to take it out because the kids started fussing over it.

Stick it in the mail

I went out to get the mail today and grabbed a letter addressed to MK. I opened it up and placed in it a stick figure portrait of the two of us with a header which read I love you Mary Katherine. I sealed it back up and brought in the mail. MK opened up the mail and got a good ol' elementary style love note.
Nothing says I love you like a crayon stick figure picture.

Hearts Stuck

I called MK today and left a message on her voicemail and told her to open the sunroof in the car. When she opened it a heart decal drop down on her. When she looked up there were several heart decals stuck to the glass. I guess I could have said something corny like my heart will always fall for you or quote the lyrics to the Titanic theme song...but I didn't. Just simple heart stickers and that's all.

Broken Heart

We were laying in bed and I told MK that I had adjusted the volume on the baby monitor. The thought is that she would lean over to her bedside table and check it out. She didn't. After a couple of minutes I reached over and handed her what was sitting on her side table. It was a small red heart with hands and legs and I love you written in the middle of it.

Note: The figure was this cheap toy I picked up but it came in a pack so I ended up with two. Good thing because the first one I tried to bend the arms and I broke one off. Otherwise, I would have been giving MK a broken heart. Ok, not funny I know. But you laughed didn't you. Maybe.

All In

When MK came home tonight I had a sheet of paper on the kitchen counter. Written on it was a note saying:

Some people spend their whole lives rolling the dice on love; playing relationship roulette.
They all hope to win the big prize of true companionship (a few do, many don't).
We hit the jackpot with our love so I guess we must be....

Attached underneath the paper was a Lucky magazine for her.

Come on, Hostess

MK went out with a couple of girlfriends to catch up and have dinner. I thought it might be a neat idea to surprise MK at the restaurant. I called up and spoke with the hostess and told her a short version of what I was doing for my wife and asked if she would help me out. She was all aboard and really into the idea. She was going to have MK's waiter go by the table and single MK out and let her know that there was a guy who thought she was very beautiful. Then after a brief second let her know the guys name was Cotie. So MK came home after her dinner and talked about her time out with the girls. I asked her if anything happened at the table and she said nothing special. Then I told her what was supposed to happen. She said it was ok because it probably would have been uncomfortable for a stranger to do that and that the thought and effort was plenty enough.

Question. Why does romance or doing something "sweet" have to be uncomfortable?

Finally. Date Night

If you have been keeping up with these post then you may have noticed that we do not get to go out on dates. Today my dad came over to babysit and we went on a date day (3pm movie). We watched Slumdog Millionaire which was recommended to us. It was one of the best movies I have ever seen. Highly recommended. Anyway, we had a good time watching a great movie.

Life is like....

Today I gave MK a heart-shaped box of Godiva chocolates. I attached at note which read:
If life is as Forrest Gump suggest, like a box of chocolates then I am glad my box came with you.

The love puzzle

Today we boarded the airplane from Boston to return back home. When we were settled in our seats I gave MK this crossword puzzle to do on the plane. She completed the puzzle and it was fun to see the ones she needed to do a double take on. If you are reading this post give it a try with your loved one.

Cotie's New Year Resolution 2009

To get our marriage in perfect shape by:

Working out - any small issues we may have to prevent any problems
Eating - my words to prevent negativity into our relationship

Lifting - your name in praise
Exercising - my right to love you at all times

Balancing - family and alone time

This is definately one exercise regime I know I will stick to.
